The petition calling upon Iain Duncan-Smith to instigate a Public Enquiry into the conduct of Atos, with particular record to this appalling fatality rate has so far attracted 4,346 signatures. That’s not a bad start, but much more is needed. YOUR support, and YOUR willingness to help network this petition could be vital; if a Public Enquiry could be brought about, Atos would be well and truly under the spotlight and it’s possible they may be forced to change their way of working. It’s not over-stating the case to say that this could save lives. YOUR signature, YOUR support could actually SAVE LIVES. It’s that vital.
An Enquiry would seem appropriate in any case, for an organisation which has been branded “Not fit for purpose” by the British Medical Association, and which has itself recently issued a wheedling apology to the people it has wrongly found fit for work. The apology is aimed at the survivors of the Atos experience, you understand. Sadly, it is too late to apologise to the 1300 who have died.

It all helps, and maybe if things go well, we can make a difference. A lot of people are out there, counting on your support to start some sort of change for the better. Help them, in memory of the 1300 who have paid the ultimate price for official incompetence and callous disregard for how human beings are being treated.
Iain Duncan-Smith treated a previous petition, calling on him to do as he said he could and live on £53 a week, with the utmost arrogance and contempt, dubbing it “a stunt”. This is the measure of the man’s utter disregard of public opinion, or indeed anything that doesn’t help advance his own malicious agenda.
Don’t let him get away with it again. Become pro-active. Make this man see that the voice of the people will not be ignored. Sign and share, and make a difference today.

I will not be bullied or feel intimidated by ATOS or this gormless prick IDS aptly abrivated irritable dip shit,I welcome the day I get a letter from Atos to attend a medical …even though I am house bound and need my husband to take me to physio or doctor appts they fuckers will come to me I do not jump on no shovell I aint a piece of shit I am a human being what they dont know is my employers my GP and my husband will attend my medical at home,these bastards dont like being outwith their comfort zone just like IDS visiting the job centre oh forgot to mention my lawyers will be on the telephone listening to everything said and a hidden camcorder now thats INTIMIDATION.

I too am Housebound and in the process of the ESA system, I included all medical evidence with my claim form, with letters from my GP and my Consultant. I have photocopied everything, including form. GP says the medical evidence is unrefutable. I am waiting for a response. How long does it normally take for them to process your form?

Oops I forgot, they are also kicking me out of my home (which has had at least £10,000 of Taxpayers money adapting it for me) I have been here 21yrs where I have brought up my family, my husband died less than a year ago, all my memories are here. It is Physically and financialy impossible for me to move. Moving home would cause me to be bedridden and in unbearable pain, I would also have to take Oral Morphine which is addictive. That is against my Human Rights Act 1998 and the equalities Act 2010. I don’t have the option of going out to work, my disabilities will not allow. I didn’t ask to be disabled and wish I could give it back, but that’s just a dream! So they are Discriminating against Disabled people, that too is illegal! I was also told by the DHP That I had no right to appeal, they won’t give me discretionary housing payment because I refuse to move. I will not let them flout my Human Rights and Disability Rights!

Why not set up a local and national database of all the health care professionals (HCP) that carry out the ESA medicals for the DWP on behalf of ATOS? Lots of these HCP are registered nurses with no knowledge of issues like mental health etc… It costs millions a year for all these appeals and if the HCP (Atos) could be made liable for their decisions then they may not be as quick to award 0 points. What I’m saying is that I attend lots of ESA appeals and so far everyone has been overturned. So why is it that the HCP (Atos) say they are not fit for work because they don’t meet any of the descriptors yet at a tribunal with some questions that are relevant to their health condition they meet the descriptors.
If we can show that certain HCP and Decision Makers (DM) are constantly giving no points and all medical examination are being overturned at tribunal then they must be made accountable

my girlfriend is currently going thru this…me soon…(4 days notification of medical)1 of her med.problems is that she is ’emotionally unstable'(suicidal)…we appealed via the gl24…it was stamped by dwp,unsigned,incomplete report..then returned to us…the original!,with no appeal material wat-so-ever..that was it..the dwp have ‘no’record of it ever been received?????you can imagine the terror she went thru…was this an attempt to force her into taking her own life????fort.i was around n contacted my mp,got reply of ‘we dont know how this happened’…not happy.advice any1???

I do agree that anecdotal evidence from many people suggests that ATOS is not fit for purpose, but I’d like to see the full references for the 13,000 deaths figure. If anyone can help me find the original survey or research piece, I’d be very grateful indeed.

It’s 1300, not 13000. But I’m sure we can agree that 1300 is 1300 too many. The figure is widely reported in the press – you could Google it. I understand the 1300 firgure is the government’s own official statistic.

May I suggest you recreate the petition on the government’s own petition site? It has a lot more clout, and they’re duty bound to look into it when it reaches a certain number of signatories. keep up the pressure Rob, I worked for the CAB too until recently, they dont like you shouting out particularly politically as I found out! I see first hand how this government and the not fit for purpose ATOS group have caused misery and despair to hundreds of thousands. Infact I set up a facebook page (fightback) to try and help people share info and to share my experiences and help others from the tribunal work and appeals I did there in disability benefit appeals.. If you need any help let me know, Im a pretty good campaigner and not afraid to exert my right to freedom of expression ;-]

Have recently been to medical and Atos ex nurse with hatred of NHS as she said, as she was harassed & bullied, for years only job she could get, obviously she should have been on ESA also, and understood my same problems with Bullying and harassment, mine was at the C.A.B by the way, and over worked to the extent i had a nervous breakdown, was then made redundant by the torys, i worked for the Welfare benefits and we all got finished up, Maggie lives…

For any of you reading this are sickened by what you read then thank god it has reached you please help support in any way that you can, I like many am living this nightmare watching my wife working all hours just to keep us alive, I am house bound unable to function due to an aggressive condition, my world is the conservatory to where i am now bound to, People are dying and will continue to die under this present regime, Atos has been stripped of it’s trading right’s in several places in the world, I can bare witness to the incompetence of this company due to being subjected to an assessment carried out by unqualified staff, I challenged and won the appeal, but that is all we have gained from it, a ruling saying that our appeal has been upheld, ……..thanks for reading and for supporting this…..Very best regards..Ps

Am currently fighting a tribunal with DLA and ESA on behalf of my husband whom is an Ex-Squaddie, all this extra stress is making his PTSD worse amongst other physical disablitities, he is now house bound and too SCARED to go out, but ATOS dont care after 16 years of Service to the Country u would think they would treat Ex-servicemen/woman with a bit of respect.

The dichotomies of left v right, Christian v Muslim, , black v white, Catholic v Protestant, which have been used to great effect to divide and conquer in the past, will find no favour in this war. The call to arms that will unite us will be ‘the people v the global elite’ – the cry will cascade street to street and find easy passage and universal support – for our common purpose has greater value and strength than yours.

We have been denied our democratic rights, regardless, we have clearly expressed our wishes, in one opinion poll after another, that we do not want to be governed by a foreign unelected officialdom, but still you disregard us. You take note of their every whim, but you care not a jot for what we think or what we want. Your children are given jobs, with big salaries fresh from university and then rapidly climb the corporate ladder as reward by the same corporate bodies who you have favoured with your decisions. Our children must make their own way in an increasingly desperate world. Your corporatism suppresses our freedoms with deliberate and malicious intent.
You accommodate tyrants, dictators, arms dealers and all manner of dubious characters, with whom you are happy to keep company. You turn a blind eye when the smell of money wafts your nostrils… it suppresses the stink of corruption and evil. Your moral compasses are defunct… your values deplorable and motives despicable. Our soldiers die to service your corporate agenda – their blood is on your hands.
You are educated at the same elite schools and members of the same elite clubs and you allow these influences to override the consideration which should be paramount in service of the people. But you have not suffered… you have remained aloof, disengaged, uninvolved – removed from the debris and the misery that you have wreaked upon the rest of us.
We have seen our three billion annual fishing industry handed over to foreign control for nil reward. Our farms no longer feed us, crippled by regulations made to favour foreign farmers. Our ship-building has been dismantled and our merchant fleet whittled to nothing. Our armed forces are under strength and we see foreign troops being trained on our own soil on the pretence that they may be needed to protect us… when the reality is they are being trained to subdue us… to protect you from our vengeance. Our children are victims of social engineering in the schools and declining standards of education. They are being sexualised by explicit exposures before they have the emotional maturity to be able to cope. You are destroying their minds and their childhoods.
You have engineered a police state with legislation that empowers you at our expense and you have been blatant in your contempt for our democratic and constitution rights and our common law, which have been known to us for centuries. You deny us our rights and our freedoms and contemptuously imply that you can provide us with a new Bill of Rights. Would we seriously trust a thief with our wallets? You have corrupted our courts by appointing judges who are contemptuous of our common law and you have bowed to the pressure of foreign elites who have inflicted their inferior system of justice upon us… without our consent. You have not defended our interests… you have conspired merely to enhance your own.
You have dissected our nation and sold off our infrastructure. We buy our own water from foreign corporations who grow rich on the back of our suffering. Pensioners die of cold because they are unable to afford their heating bills visited upon them by foreign corporate greed. You are then rewarded by them with lucrative directorships when you slip quietly from office with your bulging pensions. You remain oblivious, unconcerned… disconnected. We will no longer be ignored as you go about you globalist agenda. We will resist your controlling and petty rules and regulations… we will resist your fines and penalty charges and challenge your corrupt and biased judges, we will defy the over-zealous police, and your oppressive and unlawful taxes.
It is our intention to govern ourselves… we do not seek your permission – this is our right. You have had your opportunity and you have failed. We will take control of our own lives in stages, as and when it suits us. Our numbers will grow as we show by example that prosperity is the natural consequence of honest and fair governance. We will expose you for the parasites you are.
This country has a constitution – which you ignore. We have Magna Carta, the declaration and the Bill of Rights… we have trial by jury, habeas corpus, the coronation oath. We have our customs, traditions and common law. We have the right of petition, free speech, and free movement and above all… we have the right to govern ourselves. These are our inalienable rights – they are not privileges granted to us by you or your ilk. They cannot be taken away or extinguished at the whim of political diktat or through corrupt judicial process and certainly not at the behest of foreign undemocratic institutions. You have no authority to dictate… your duty is to serve.
We do not recognise regions imposed upon us by Europeans to affect their control over us – to divide and to conquer us. We are a sovereign nation… a proud people. We have watched our country slowly destroyed… by you – we now see clearly what you have done… your purpose and you betrayal. We will honour our inheritance – the freedoms fought for and secured for us, and we will ensure that we will pass this on to the next generation, to our children and theirs.
You have been sent this letter by a constituent. On sending a copy to you, they have also registered your name with the co-ordinators. This will remain with us as evidence for your trial… for treason, should it be necessary. It’s your choice

Absolutely appauling. my husband has mental health issues aswel as mobility issues and we have been waiting 17 months for his appeal and at times my hubby has hinted about suicide. If this did ever happen Ian Duncan Smith will pay for it. it is obvious my hubby will never work again ian Duncan Smith come and see for yourself he only got 8 points at ATOS for his mental issues but nothing for his mobility.

Christina, the wait should be no more than 6 months…I would chase it up if I were you. Also I would be inclined to make a formal complaint. Make sure you keep a copy of everything.

Well on Facebook, I have learned that 310,000 claimants have died since ESA was brought out….Don’t need the Gas chambers, just the governments policies! The studies were carried out by a couple of professors from universities. Link is on my Facebook page. As regards to the Bedroom Tax the government and Councils are acting unlawfully. If a move is detrimental to someones health, It is Discriminatory under The Human Rights act 1998 and the Equalities Act 2010. Severely disabled do not have a choice if they can work, That’s not equality. Wish I could give this disability back and be healthy enough to work….But that is just a dream. As for the idiot who thinks you can live on £53 per week….I would love to know what planet he came from, obviously he had no idea whatsoever. We got Thick people like this running our country, no wonder this country is in a state! Oh and those big pay rises they gave themselves and wasting millions on some stadium….That money came from the poor and is taking food out of peoples mouths…I know of at least 3 people who go hungry 4 days a week…..to me, that’s unacceptable!

I am 59yrs of age, suffer from Prostrate Cancer, Copd, Psorosis and relapses of ME, Atos ignored all medical evidence from my doctor and consultants and declared me fit for work after a humiliating assessment which included of being asked if i could read or write,lift my arms straight up whilst lying down, and could i move my feet from side to side.

That is bloomin disgusting. Dave write a letter of appeal and that you want it to go to a Tribunal, Most people win there. To me it’s obvious you cannot work, and how is moving your feet from side to side applicable for a job? or even raising your arms up? It’s beyond a joke.. They cannot be medically qualified staff, making those sort of decisions. So how can a non medical professionals make decisions about disability?

I ask you to deal with people who are sick, , disabled or mentally ill in a humane way. Banning Atos due to the number of people that have died whilst under-going investigations by them. The pressure and lack of compassion is driving people to suicide!!!!!!! If u support Atos you too have blood on your hands!!!
I ask that you seriously re-consider the way vulnerable are treated!
This is happening in the England we used to love being ruled by a corrupt government whose only concerns are giving tax cuts to millionaires!
Yet people who are already in poverty and sick, disabled or mentally ill have the added pressure of being treated without any respect or care for their illness. Atos have proved they are incapable of dealing with these vulnerable people! !! I plead with you to take immediate action as a matter of great urgency! For this matter to be on your mind from the moment you wake till you go to sleep. People committing suicide under this government and Atos is at a record high! If you can sleep at night whilst this is happening and you have the power to change it, then well it proves what sort of man you are! But I just hope and pray that you have a heart and will take action to stop further deaths! You can make the difference. Please please do.

I agree whole hartedly that there needs to be an investigation but asking IDS to investigate Atos is like asking Cameron if hes a good PM. The DWP set the rules the targets and the process and policy that govern how Atos work, as the head of the DWP IDS is the one responsible and it is him, his ministers, his department its policy, process, contracts and their contractors that need to be investigated.

The petition was asking IDS (as the responsible Minister) to instigate a public enquiry into the conduct of Atos. An appraisal of its terms of reference as laid down by the DWP would necessarily be a part of this process. Ultimately, it is to be hoped that the outcome of any such enquiry would leave IDS with little choice but to resign.
