Leeds Looking for a Favour when Old Friends Millwall meet Norwich – by Rob Atkinson

Leeds United roared back to the top of the Championship last night, with a spectacular 4-0 thumping of awayday specialists West Bromwich Albion – and the Whites will be hoping that the Lions’ roar will be heard in London today, with a flock of Canaries the victims.

Millwall play Norwich City at the New Den, always a formidable destination. Leeds will remember securing a last gasp draw there in the autumn, courtesy of a late Jack Harrison strike. Norwich, with the prolific Teemu Pukki always a good bet for a goal or two, will hope to go one better, but many a team expected to do well has come a cropper in this part of London.

While we’re asking for favours from old friends, it’d be nice if Sheffield Wednesday could do the honours as they host the Steel City derby on Monday evening. Hillsborough is another venue that limited Leeds to a solitary point this season, but the Owls will possibly find the Blades too sharp for them – we can but hope, for purely selfish reasons, that things work out well for Steve Bruce & Co on the night.

Next weekend sees Leeds United heading for a stiff examination away at Bristol City, with Norwich and Sheffield United at home, to Swansea and Rotherham respectively. There’s plenty of scope there for United to be pegged back – so we really could do with a couple of good turns this weekend from Millwall and Wednesday.

So, come on guys – you know we’ve always wanted the best for you…

Well Rob, my tripled medication ploy worked last night. I did become overcome with intense feelings of euphoria but much faster than the patient’s advice leaflet stated!! I saw us score a stunner after 16 seconds, THREE more goals plus a very well deserved clean sheet. I have just managed to watch the game back and confirm that I was definitely not hallucinating, it really did happen Rob

Seriously did not see that coming against one of our most serious automatic promotion rivals especially after Bielsa fielded the same starting line up for the 3rd game inside a week. Well done to Bielsa, every Leeds player and of course each and every one of us fans making up the 12th man

Here’s hoping that this performance truly galvanises our squad and restores belief that we can mount a sustained assault on the automatic promotion places.

I have always had a soft spot for Millwall any how Rob, its 40 square metres of deep bogland on North Yorkshire Moors!!! ALAW

    • Ha, I like that. As I write, Millwall are letting us down, but I didn’t seriously expect anything else. I though the difference last night was Tyler running from deep and beating his former team mates as if they weren’t there. Magnifico!

      • I was watching, then switched to Bournemouth v City when Norwich scored. Guess I’ll stay away and keep my fingers crossed for good old Millwall 🤞

      • Ah well, back to despising Millwoe, watch them rock up at ER like world beaters (a lot of a stretch for Millwoe but you get the gist)

  3. Have you seen Norwich’s run in Rob? It doesn’t seem too taxing. However I have now officially given up second guesing ANY result in this crazy league. If Wednesday don’t do us a favour tomorrow I won’t be downhearted.
It’s up to Leeds to perform. We can’t do anything about our rivals results.
Last night was phenomenal. Premier standard stuff. We don’t always play like that but just knowing we a have the potential to do so (as we have done several times this season)is a tremendous feeling. MOT
