New Striker at Leeds “By the Weekend” – by Rob Atkinson

A normally reliable source has stated that Leeds United will bring a striker into the club before the weekend, with several names under consideration. This comes after strong speculation earlier in the day that free agent David Bentley (28), normally a winger, might be offered the chance to resurrect his career at Elland Road.

Strikers who have been linked with United include Southampton’s Billy Sharp, Shane Long of WBA, Ricardo Vaz Te of West Ham, Adam le Fondre of Reading, among others. Brian McDermott was the manager who signed le Fondre for Reading during his spell as manager there.

With a Capital One cup tie at Newcastle on Wednesday ahead of a trip to Millwall’s New Den at the weekend, it promises to be an interesting few days at Elland Road.

Who would you like to see brought in during the emergency loans window??

  7. Lets hope to tuck that the normally reliable source is reliable and that if we get on normally reliable striker that they don’t freeze at ER. At least this blog gives us some hope for the resurrection of the season. Better than the Yorkshire Post. PS. I am also an opinionated, lefty, grumpy git! Sad, in it!

These next couple of weeks are where BMD will show us what he,s all about.I,m trying to stay confident and i,m also a grumpy lefty git.Going off on a bit of a tangent i can,t remember the last time we really smashed a team in the league, perhaps we need to stop worrying about the opposition and start playing without fear. The players still look scared to me.Time to earn your money and stripes BMD.

Le fondre would be nice , but what kind of money is he on at reading ? Billy sharp would also be a good target .

  14. Becchio,i’d love him to come back. He’s got unfinished business here. We need him and he needs us, he’s lacking in pace as we all know but he has the tenacity and bravery of Ian Baird and Lee Chapman with the goals to boot. A dying breed in this age of big girls blouse divers and skivers.

  15. Cristiano Ronaldo. And I would like to see Matt Smith given an extended run, whoever the new winger is.

  17. ALF and why because not just he is an proven scorer but that recent goal against us was the shop window stuff. There is also some history that kind of moves like Macca (foxes) scored against us in Wilko’s era.

But statistics do not lie 22 shots 5 on target, ball possession 63/37%. What comes to goal provider part well EHD must be given that role permanently. We have missed him for sure.

  21. No striker investment equals mid table at best ! The problem is a maximum 93 day loan which right now will fall short of the Jan transfer window which I suspect might be what the manager was delaying for ! I quite like varney and believe he offers the team genuine pace but he is NOT a striker! I believe the formation isn’t working for us and has a part to play in what we aren’t scoring enough goals! Watford 8 games played 27 scored Leeds 8 games played 7 goals scored! Tells its own story!! We must get goals or we will get nothing from the season ! But us Leeds fans are fickle bunch! Watch us go beat the Geordies ! Then milwall who are struggling! Mot!
